Project Overview
This project primarily consists of a new sidewalk along the east side of South Main Street between Scio Church Road and Stadium Boulevard. The project also includes installation of a retaining wall, fencing, and bike lane improvements.
Why is this project being done?
To improve pedestrian access along the east side of the S. Main Street corridor from Scio Church Road to Stadium Boulevard.
Work to be done
Install sidewalk, retaining wall, fencing, and concrete bump out, miscellaneous landscaping, and pedestrian signal installation for crossing S. Main Street.
Cost and funding source
Funding split between City of Ann Arbor Sidewalk
Construction Millage and The University of Michigan supplemented with federal
funding through the Michigan Department of Transportation Local Agency Program.
Lane closures and traffic shift for northbound and left turn vehicle traffic. Northbound traffic will travel along the center left turn lane and the center left turn lane will be shifted into the easterly southbound lane.
Bicycles and other vehicles will share lanes while the closures are in place.
Property owners and stakeholders will be provided with updates throughout the project.
During construction, traffic impact information will be provided via on this page and posted on the Road and Lane Closure page.
Weekly updates will be issued via the project website.
