Project Overview
The project will extend a safe, accessible, buffered bicycle route on Green Road, while also supporting pedestrian safety by narrowing the available vehicle space and improving the Burbank crosswalk by adding a paint and post pedestrian safety island. The project will also restripe the Green/Plymouth intersection, reducing the exposure between vehicles and pedestrians/bicyclists.
Why is this project being done?
As directed by Council in their adoption of the FY26 budget, staff are installing a Quick Build safety capital project to be completed in fall of 2026, using funds not utilized by other QB FY26 projects.
Previous staff analysis identified this section of Green Road as a candidate for reconfiguration. This was most recently confirmed as part of the Ann Arbor Roadway Rightsizing (A2R2) project.
Work to be done
- Installation of pavement markings to reconfigure road, adding buffered bike lanes.
- Installation of City Posts to add pedestrian safety island at Burbank.

- Short term impacts from construction, as crews work to install pavement marking changes.
This project is one of the ten A2R2 corridors, a study to improve safety, reduce vehicle speeds, and enhance multimodal connectivity along arterial streets.
