Project Overview
Ann Arbor has been awarded a 2022 Safe Streets for All (SS4A) United States Department of Transportation Supplemental Action Planning Grant.
Why is this project being done?
Ann Arbor was awarded a federal Safe Streets for All supplemental action planning grant for project elements: Speed Management, Quick Build and Near Miss Video Analytics system.
Work to be done
Speed Management, Quick Build – utilizing pavement markings and in street bollards to slow driving speeds and create a safe environment for all people to travel
Near Miss Video Analytics system – utilizing existing Gridsmart cameras at 61 city intersections to understand factors that lead to crashes and “near miss” events.
Funding Sources
$3.8 million federal funds
$950,000 local climate millage funds
Project Selection
A project selection memo is available to outline how the preliminary list of corridors and intersections were selected.
There may be impacts during installation of the Speed Management and Quick Build projects across the city.
