Project Overview

The large oak tree in Mushroom Park was removed due to decline and safety concerns. The tree will be reused on site to create a nature play area, similar to the Great Oak Nature Playground near Barton Dam. Project has been delayed and will be scheduled for later this season.

The wood from the felled tree will be re-used adjacent to the existing playground to create a new nature play area. The design includes a stump "treehouse", a boulder scramble, vertical climbers, and hammock nets.

In addition to the play features, new trees will be planted and additional seating will be provided.

A public meeting was held virtually on April 22, 2026 at 7pm.

  • Tree removal took place on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025 due to the declining health of the tree
