Project Overview

Four new crosswalks will be installed along Jackson Ave between Maple Road and 9th Street. This corridor is within MDOTs jurisdiction and required their approval prior to construction.

Why is this project being done?

The four crosswalk locations are identified as high priority for mid-block crosswalks and are included in the comprehensive Transportation Plan as number 5 under Key Mobility Strategies: Enhance safety and visibility at uncontrolled crosswalks.

All four locations are accompanied by the appropriate safety features as determined by the crosswalk design guidelines. The safety features include four Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) and three mid-block pedestrian islands.
